PS-U-GO at European Maritime Day 2025: Participatory Approaches to the Sea as a Common Good
June 4, 2025The two-day Regional Futures Workshop took place on 9 and 10 May 2025 at the CoCo Stadtlabor in Cottbus and brought together young people from Cottbus and the surrounding region. Building on earlier workshops, the event focused on how young people experience structural change in their everyday lives and how they imagine the future of their region. Using collective storytelling and visual materials, participants explored themes such as mobility, housing, youth spaces, education and work, connecting personal experiences with shared concerns and hopes.
Creative group work was combined with open dialogue. On the first day, participants developed collective stories based on familiar places, routines and challenges, followed by a discussion with a member of the Brandenburg state parliament. This exchange allowed young people to raise concrete questions about political processes, representation and regional priorities. On the second day, the stories were revisited and translated into thematic maps and shared messages. Participants highlighted the value of the informal and respectful atmosphere, which made it easier to speak openly, recognise common issues and relate everyday experiences to broader questions of regional futures.
