Palermo ULL - Madonie
The Living Lab of Palermo focused on the ecosystem of Madonie Living Lab. It took place in the municipality of Petralia Sottana, in the province of Palermo, in the heart of the Madonie.
The living lab involved students from the University of Palermo, in particular from the Faculty of Architecture and Design.
Students had the opportunity to explore the local context, identify challenges together with local administrations and prototype solutions to test and/or implement.

The outputs
Metamadonie
Metadamonie is a journey into collective memory: a photography and micro-publishing workshop to tell community stories, by the community. A participatory exhibition of photographs and a physical and digital archive of audio, video, and images that preserves emotions and memories.
Civico museo
Civico museo transformed the Civic Museum of Petralia Sottana into a creative lab for children. After discovering the story of the famous warrior figurine, the young participants imagined their own original adventure. Their ideas came to life thanks to the team, who produced a 3D print of the warrior and used artificial intelligence to create a narrative video inspired by the children's drawings and stories.
Madonie maker week
An immersive weekend for artisans, makers, and designers: hands-on workshops to rediscover traditional crafts, access to a fab lab with 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines, plus courses in digital design. A unique opportunity for skill-sharing and professional networking.
Mad chef
Mad Chef is a journey into the culinary traditions of the Madonie region: on-site interviews to collect ancient local recipes, direct sourcing of traditional ingredients, and cooking masterclasses to learn and pass on these authentic flavors.
All the recipes are collected in a digital archive accessible to everyone.
